Low humidity common during the winter months can cause dry, irritated skin. Keep Hydrated – Drink plenty of water during the winter months. The human body, which is made up of between 55 and 75 percent water is in need of constant rehydration. Eight glass a day will help keep your skin naturally moist. Avoid Soft drinks and coffee. While these drinks can help quench your body’s thirst for fluids, they will take out more water from your body than is added. They are a diuretic and will literally dry you out.

Proper Digestion - Promoting a proper digestive system is vital to natural skin care. Friendly bacteria manufacture nutrients, get rid of toxins, safeguard against putrefaction in the digestive tract, crowd out and destroy "bad" bacteria, improve digestive processes and enhance our body's immune defenses. A shift in the balance of power among the intestinal bacteria can have major consequences on your health. You can get these probiotics or "friendly bacteria" in any commercially available yogurt, although many additional probiotics may be contained in yogurts sold in health food stores.

Always eat a diet rich in fiber. Fiber is essential to keep the digestive system in balance.
